Psychotherapy

If you or your child is suffering from depression or anxiety or struggling with a life stressor, psychotherapy could help with learning healthy coping skills.

Where do you begin?

  •  In the first session, you will receive a thorough 45-50 minute diagnostic assessment, and together we will decide on goals.  Therapy sessions lasting 45-60 minutes may be weekly or every other week in the beginning to build rapport.  Goals are often achieved in 6-8 sessions, gradually increasing the time between sessions to make sure you are comfortable before being on your own.  Therapy can be helpful to people in chunks, giving them what they need to head in the right direction, and along the path, and to get past the finish line.  Thus, many people will come back after breaks in the therapy just to keep things going well.  And if therapy is not working?  I am more than happy to refer you to someone else to make sure you get the help you need and deserve.

Can you use insurance?

  •   I value confidentiality, but insurance companies often want more confidential information than most people would like to have shared.  For that reason, you may prefer not to use insurance.  I am paneled with a limited number of insurance companies.  For those companies with which I am not paneled, you may simply submit claim forms to get reimbursed under your out-of-network benefits.  You can also use flexible spending and health savings accounts, and I can accept HSA credit cards for payment.  To help defray the cost when I am not paneled with your insurance company, mention "Website Discount" for $60 off the intake session or $25 off one follow-up session.  Still concerned about money?  Consider this: Psychotherapy can boost happiness more than money!

Kid Koaching

Kid Koaching: You are aware that your child does not suffer from depression or other psychiatric issues, but certain things continue to be difficult for them!  When someone else says something we have stated to our kids at least a dozen times, we have all had our kids listen to it!  Coaching could prevent the problem from arising repeatedly.  Do these concerns look familiar to you?

  • Struggling over homework night after night?
  • Grades below expectations again?
  • Difficulty focusing at home and at school?
  • Homework and other items lost?
  • Procrastination becoming a bad habit?
  • College application deadlines drawing near?
  • Low self-confidence a repeated occurrence?
  • Another discussion about eating habits or weight?
  • Mental blocks interfering with sports?
  • Friend issues keep cropping up?
  • Nothing seems to be motivating?

Your child may just need a few sessions of Kid Coaching to get back on track, or they may need six to eight sessions to finish larger projects or objectives.  I can often express the same things in a way that kids can hear and understand, because kids sometimes take parental remarks about objectives as nagging.

Parent Coaching

I could train you on parenting your children if you just need additional strategies and want to be directly involved. Obviously, they did not come with instructions! The same parenting techniques your parents employed to raise you are frequently ineffectual with today's kids because they truly are different.

Together, we can create a strategy to restore harmony in your household and strengthen your bond with your child.  Depending on how long and entrenched the issues have gotten, this may involve one session where I offer you a few new ideas or several sessions.

Coaching for Women

Women are frequently the ones who assist others in achieving their objectives.  In order to obtain what you want and improve not only your own life but also the lives of those who are close to you, I want to help you finally put yourself first and exhibit a healthy level of selfishness.

You set the objectives, and I'll assist you in staying on course.  We can schedule frequent meetings to work on the steps leading to a larger life goal, or we can just get together once to handle a single issue that has been getting in your way.

Group Coaching

I took part in a coaching group, and it was really effective!  I had the group leader's encouragement, support, and fresh ideas in addition to those of every other participant.  Like a basketball team with roughly the same number of players, we supported and gained knowledge from one another.  Although the goals varied from relationship (and parenthood) goals to career goals to health and wellbeing goals, they occasionally had similarities.  Team members, including the leader, are frequently motivated by the enthusiasm of one another.
